Terms
Last updated May 2026.
These terms apply to your use of Active Scene (activescene.org). By using the site you accept them. If you don't agree, please stop using the site. Active Scene is run by Troc Studio Ltd(a company registered in England & Wales, company number 17244336, registered office: 45 Albemarle Street, 3rd Floor, Mayfair, London W1S 4JL, United Kingdom). In these terms "we", "us" and "our" mean Troc Studio Ltd. You can reach us at support@activescene.org.
What Active Scene is
Active Scene (activescene.org) is a free discovery platform for social-dance events — classes, socials, workshops, festivals and retreats — live in 13 countries, run by Troc Studio Ltd. Listings come from two places: an automated extraction pipeline that reads organisers' public websites, Facebook and Instagram pages, and organisers who manage their own listings through our portal.
We are a directory, not a ticket seller or a booking agent. Except for events we directly produce (see below), we are not the organiser of the events you find here.
What you can do
Active Scene is free for dancers. You may browse, search and use the site for your own personal, non-commercial use:
- browse and search listings, and follow outbound links;
- save events and follow organisers, once those features ship;
- sign up to our newsletter — entirely on a consent basis, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
What you can't do
To keep the site useful and safe for everyone, you agree not to:
- scrape, crawl or automatically harvest the site beyond what our
robots.txtallows, or use bots, scripts or other automated means to extract data in bulk; - interfere with, overload or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, any account, or our systems;
- send spam, or use the site to distribute it;
- impersonate any person, organiser or venue, or misrepresent your affiliation with one;
- submit deliberately false, misleading or abusive content through any form on the site.
Full detail is in our Acceptable Use Policy.
Accuracy — and attending events
Event details come either from organisers' public sources or from organisers managing their own listings. We do our best to keep them accurate and up to date, but things change constantly — classes get cancelled, venues move, prices and times shift. We do not guarantee that any listing is accurate, complete or current. Always check directly with the organiser before you travel.
Attendance is at your own risk. Active Scene is not the organiser of the events listed, and we are not responsible for what happens at them — including safety, conduct, refunds, cancellations or anything else. The only exception is events we directly produce, which are governed by their own separate terms made available at the point of booking.
Third-party links
Listings link out to organiser websites, ticketing providers, social media pages and other third-party services. We don't control those sites, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, not ours. We aren't responsible for their content, availability, or any transaction you make with them.
Affiliate disclosure
Some outbound links may earn us a small commission if you book or buy — at no extra cost to you. This never influences which events we list or how we present them; our editorial decisions are kept entirely separate from any commercial arrangement. Full detail will be available at our disclosures page when it's live.
Accounts
We don't currently require an account to use Active Scene. When accounts ship, the following will apply:
- you must be at least 16 years old to create an account;
- you are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account;
- we may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms or our Acceptable Use Policy.
Intellectual property
The Active Scene name, logo, the site's code, and our original editorial copy (such as city guides) are owned by Troc Studio Ltd and protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, reuse or republish them without our permission.
Plain factual information about an event — its name, date, time, venue and price — is not something anyone owns. But event descriptions and images belong to the organiser or original source they came from, not to us, and we display them only as part of the directory. See our copyright page if you believe something should be removed.
User submissions
When you submit content through the site — for example via the "Suggest a source" form — you grant Troc Studio Ltda non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, store and reproduce that content for the purpose of operating and improving the platform. You keep ownership of what you submit; you're just letting us use it to run the directory. You confirm you have the right to submit it.
Limitation of liability
Active Scene is a free service provided "as is". To the extent the law allows:
- our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim — which, for free users, is £0;
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (for example lost time, lost profit, or wasted travel);
- we are not liable for the acts, omissions, events, content or services of third-party organisers, venues or ticketing providers.
None of this affects your statutory rights. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law — including your rights as a consumer under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 (and, where it applies to you, the EU Consumer Rights Directive), or our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Troc Studio Ltdharmless from any claims, losses or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the site, your breach of these terms, your unlawful use of the service, or your infringement of anyone else's intellectual property or other rights. This does not apply to the extent the law does not permit it, and does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
Termination
You can stop using Active Scene at any time. We may suspend, restrict or end your access to the site (or to an account, once accounts exist) if you breach these terms or our Acceptable Use Policy, or where we reasonably need to in order to protect the site or other users. We may also withdraw or change the service itself; as it's free, we don't guarantee it will always be available.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do, and material changes will also be noted in the cookie banner the next time you visit. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.
Governing law & jurisdiction
These terms, and any dispute arising from them or from your use of Active Scene, are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales will have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
