Salsa, bachata & more in Leeds

Active Scene is a discovery site for social dance. Browse upcoming salsa, bachata, kizomba, tango and other classes, socials, workshops and festivals in and around Leeds — then save the ones you like.

Leeds has a steady, friendly partner-dance scene built around a core of long-running organisers — Leeds Salsa Club is the anchor — with classes and socials running through the week. Salsa leads here, with Cuban casino particularly well-represented, and bachata is layered into most socials with the occasional kizomba night alongside. Venues sit close to the city centre and around the Headrow, walkable from the train station, and the student presence from Leeds and Leeds Beckett keeps the floor lively in term-time. The crowd is welcoming to beginners: most classes feed straight into the social that follows, so you can turn up never having danced and leave having spent an hour on the floor.

Where to start: pick a class-plus-social weeknight — one beginner lesson, then open dancing — and start with salsa or bachata; no partner or prior experience needed.

Do I need a partner? No. Partners rotate every song or two, and coming alone is the norm.

When are the bigger socials? Friday and Saturday typically run the biggest rooms; weeknights are the place to learn before joining them.
