Active Scene expands to the US, now live in 13 countries

Active Scene extends its partner-dance directory across US cities — salsa, bachata, kizomba and tango, in one dancer-first platform.

London — 26 May 2026 — Active Scene, the partner-dance discovery platform, today launched coverage of the United States, taking its directory to 13 countries. The expansion adds more than 900 US events — salsa socials in New York, bachata nights in Miami, classes and congresses across the country — to existing coverage of the UK and continental Europe. Active Scene now indexes more than 5,500 partner-dance events worldwide.

Background

The social-dance scene — salsa, bachata, kizomba, urban kiz, tango, zouk — has always been scattered. A dancer arriving in a new city pieces their week together from Instagram posts, Facebook events, WhatsApp groups and a dozen separate studio websites. The information exists; it is just never in one place.

Active Scene pulls those signals into a single searchable directory: city pages, style pages, organiser profiles, and a live index of classes, weekly socials, festivals and retreats. Every listing traces back to a verifiable public source, and the platform reads organisers' own websites — without requiring them to lift a finger, and without touching anyone's personal data.

Coverage details

Active Scene currently indexes:

  • More than 3,300 events across the United Kingdom, its home market
  • More than 900 events newly indexed across the United States
  • More than 500 events across eight European markets — France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Poland
  • Active coverage also in Ireland, Japan and the United Arab Emirates
  • More than 370 festivals and retreats, the events dancers travel for
  • 18 UK cities with dedicated editorial guides, and growing

The directory spans nine styles — salsa, bachata, kizomba, urban kiz, tango, zouk, reggaeton, belly dance and heels — and you can browse any of them in the United States, the United Kingdom, or by style and city.

How it's different

Most directories ask organisers to upload their own events, so they lag behind reality — half-empty and months out of date. Active Scene's automation keeps listings in step with what is actually happening each week. Organisers who want control still get it: any organiser can claim their page, edit their profile and post events directly through the free portal.

Active Scene also runs without advertising cookies or third-party trackers. Analytics are anonymous, and dancer data is never sold or shared.

Quote

"Most dancers I know open three apps and a couple of WhatsApp groups every Friday just to work out where to dance that weekend. We are putting it all in one place — and doing it without ads, trackers, or selling anyone's data. The platform is here to serve dancers, not to monetise their attention." — Agnes Trocinska, founder, Active Scene

What's next

Over the coming months, Active Scene will:

  • Open a go-to-market push for the organiser portal, inviting every listed organiser to claim and manage their own page
  • Deepen US coverage into tier-2 cities — Tampa, Seattle, Denver, Orlando and Boston — and begin Canada
  • Ship a weekly email digest so dancers get what's on near them without checking five feeds (coming soon)
  • Expand the festival and retreat calendar, the highest-value resource for travelling dancers
